With the development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology becoming more and more mature, more and more companies are recruiting through AI video interviews, and AI systems are used to assist in finding the most suitable candidates. While AI interviewing is becoming more common, there are still some job seekers who are unfamiliar with how it works. As the flagship technology of Hong Kong, Cyberport is committed to cultivating and promoting young people to join in innovation and technology. In order to help job seekers master and familiarize themselves with AI interview skills, Cyberport cooperated with the start-up company Datality Lab and used its AI speech training platform Moodie.ai, on June 4th. During the “Cyberport Interactive Recruitment Expo” from June to June 6, AI-based interviews will be provided on-site for job seekers. Job seekers can receive performance scores and an improvement report to help them improve their interview performance, free of charge.

Roland, managing director of Datality Lab, said that with the advancement of modern technology, people need to have good communication skills to be able to express their ideas clearly. Unfortunately, apart from exams, Hong Kong students have less opportunities to learn communication skills. During the interview, students often can only rely on their personal character and experience to cope and express themselves. Roland and team members hoped to help users improve their communication skills and enhance their expressive skills, so they carried out research, combined data analysis and AI technology, and finally officially launched Moodie.ai last year.

AI interview instant scoring to improve job-seeking performance
In this year’s Cyberport Interactive Recruitment Expo, from June 4 to 6, job seekers can receive AI mock interview training through Moodie.ai and receive a detailed improvement report. The method of operation is very simple. First, enter your personal information and the title of the position you are applying for. After watching the commentary video, you can start a 3-minute mock interview. The whole process will be recorded by the platform. After the interview, the clip will be uploaded to the cloud for scoring. The artificial intelligence technology of the platform will conduct detailed analysis according to the facial expressions, body movements, tones and content of job applicants, based on 70 body language observation points and 170 algorithms, and score in the overall, confidence, fluency, reliability and other categories. Give targeted improvement suggestions, and the entire analysis process only takes 5 minutes.

The system will also refer to the experience sharing of job interview tutors, input the demonstration data of good and bad interview performance into the system, draw up standards and score job seekers. Taking content as an example, if a job seeker answers key words related to the position including “communication, presentation skills” and “market knowledge” in an interview for a marketer, he or she will be able to score points in the content. According to Roland, one of the hardest questions in a job interview is “please introduce yourself” because job seekers don’t know what the interviewer wants to hear most. However, by analyzing the results of AI mock interviews, job seekers can know their strengths and weaknesses, such as suggesting to share more job-related soft skills, hard skills, and industry-related knowledge.

Create a win-win situation for employers and job seekers
At present, many companies use AI for interviews to find talents. Not only job seekers have more opportunities to showcase themselves, but employers also benefit from “traditional human interviews, interviewers have their own preferences and scoring standards, such as certain types of clothing and age. Job seekers will be favored by them; AI interviews can remove factors unrelated to the position, unify the scoring standards, and focus on the actual performance and abilities of job seekers.” Roland emphasized that AI interviews cannot completely replace traditional real interviews. However, it can help employers get more detailed performance analysis and data to help them find the most suitable candidates. “In the past, recruitment procedures were mainly handled manually, and time was limited. Sometimes job seekers even with excellent skills may be rejected due to incomplete resumes. If you are eliminated, and now using AI for interviews, you can reduce the situation of leaving pearls in the sea.”

Roland, who has developed an AI speech training platform, reminds job seekers to keep in mind facial expression management when conducting AI interviews, “AI can observe job applicants 5 times within 1 second, and any micro-expressions and body movements will be rejected. Complete records and analysis. Even if you encounter unsatisfactory things in the process, don’t reflect on your facial expressions, and try to stay confident and not frivolous.”
