CityU College of Business started collaboration with Datality Lab in March 2021 over the deployment of Moodie.ai, an innovation in communication and presentation training platform built on composite artificial intelligence, decision science and applied psychology. It has been introduced to a group of post-graduate students to facilitate their final project presentation preparation.’ ‘The early results show that the platform is able to effectively differentiate the quality of students’ presentation skills and identify areas where more efforts are required. We see enormous potential for Moodie.ai to become an integral part of the University’s academic curriculum for undergraduate and post-graduate students and we are committed to ongoing collaborations with the team in Datality Lab.’

As a seasoned cross-media professional and corporate trainer, I have been actively introducing new technologies to enhance my training effectiveness. We introduced Moodie.ai to over 400 Year-2 BBA students in May 2021 to analyze their oral presentation performance. We are deeply impressed by the ability of Moodie.ai in identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the presentation skills of individual students and providing detailed and timely feedback for continuous improvements. Moodie.ai can be an effective tool that allows autonomous learning in business communication. It also aligns with our technology-based approach to enrich student learning experience.

The workplace is evolving at a rapid pace with conventional practices disrupted by digitalization and recently the pandemic. SMU seeks to develop future-ready graduates with workplace capabilities required to thrive in the 21st century through a set of SMU Graduate Learning Outcomes (GLOs), one of which is Communication.

The Centre for Teaching Excellence partnered Datality Lab in 2022 to introduce Moodie.AI to a group of communication management students with the aim of assessing the effectiveness of multi-cognitive AI in providing personalized recommendations for students. Early results suggest that Moodie.AI has the potential to disrupt the way communication training is conducted. We aim to progressively expand the scope of use to various scenarios in the university.

We value the opportunity to develop communication and presentation skills of our students, as it is a skill that will benefit them throughout their adulthood. We are keen to use an AI tool like Moodie.ai to create a versatile learning environment for our students. We are hoping to see that, with the combined use of in person training and AI based coaching from Moodie.ai, we can strengthen our students’ ability to present their thoughts and ideas in all occasions. That’s why we are putting substantial resources behind a pilot program with Moodie.ai in the coming terms.
